Meet our Dean

Dean Diane Santa Maria (DrPH, MSN, RN, PHNA-BC, FSAHM, FAAN) has led Cizik School of Nursing since 2018, beginning as interim dean and moving into the position permanently in 2020.

Our students, at all degree levels, are proud to come here because of who we are, how we stretch them to become exceptional nurses, and how we raise each other up to be the best we can be. No matter where you are on your educational or professional path, I encourage you to learn more about the Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Houston.

The RN-BSN, Pacesetter BSN, and BSN-DNP Nurse Practitioner programs at Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Houston are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In addition, our BSN programs are approved by the Texas Board of Nursing.

UTHealth Houston’s School of Nursing enrolls its first students.
2004
Students begin taking classes in our new building, which is the first educational facility of its kind in The University of Texas System to be LEED® Gold-certified for sustainability.
2017
In appreciation for their foundational gifts and commitment to transforming patients’ lives through skilled nursing, the nursing school is renamed after Jane and Robert Cizik.
Today
Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Houston serves approximately 1,400 students, graduating about 400 BSN nurses and 400 graduate-level nurses (on average) each year.
